Money Challenge-Day Six-Compost
Today’s challenge is about putting even more leftovers to good use. This time it’s your garden that can benefit. Do you have a compost bin yet? If not, think about buying or making one this spring? Compost is great for spreading around plants, especially vegetables that you’re growing yourself. The Internet has great sources on how to compost including what to add and what to leave out. Think of all the money you’ll save on fertilizer this year. ‘See’ you again tomorrow.

Money Challenge-Day Five-Add to your Bookshelf
It’s a simple challenge today. Being educated about your money, having a core knowledge of economies is key to being budget smart. Do you have any money related books on your bookshelf? If not go and find one. Either buy it or check it out from the library and yes, actually read it a few times. Some suggestions for books include https://www.amazon.com/Millionaire-Next-Door-Surprising-Americas/dp/1589795474/ref=sr_1_1?crid=24GGL8DP2B13U&keywords=the+millionaire+next+door+book&qid=1645987216&sprefix=the+mill%2Caps%2C111&sr=8-1

Money Challenge-Day Four-Non-Food Leftovers
Yesterday our challenge focused on food leftovers so today we’ll turn our attention to non-food leftovers. Empty jars, clothes that have seen better days, inner rolls of paper towels etc. Be of the mindset that everything can have a second life. Today take something that you’d usually just throw away and see what you can do with it. Maybe it’s something that you can use for storage and hence you’ll save money because you don’t have to buy storage jars. It could even be something you’ll make into a craft that you’ll one day sell for extra income. Today is your chance to think outside the box. ‘See’ you again…

Are You Ready for a Challenge?
Do you like a challenge? How about a 31 day challenge? I’m currently creating a money makeover course that will be uploaded to BSG. While I’ve been working on it, I thought why not do a 31 day challenge. So during the month of March, I’ll be posting a different money related challenge right here at BSG. In the meantime, is there anything you’d like to see during the challenge? Struggling with some aspect of your budget? Having trouble finding money to put toward the rainy day fund? Let me know by leaving a comment or you can contact me at budgetsmartqueries@gmail.com.

Regrow Your Vegetables and Fruit
Did you know you can regrow some of the fruits and vegetables you buy? I love the idea that you can buy something once and use it multiple times. I saw a video about how you can grow more food from scraps of foods, like lettuce, celery and green onions. I recently gave it a try and purchased a book on the topic which I’ve listed below if you want to check it out. I bought a pack of three romaine lettuces, set them in water for about a week until some new roots grew then planted them in some potting soil and have kept them in a sunny location.…

Can’t Find It or Can’t Afford It?
Empty grocery shelves, rising prices… Just two problems we’re facing just about everywhere in the world. Savvy savers have always found ways around high prices and here are some tips- Don’t Be Loyal I know lots of people who will only buy one brand and if it goes up in price they’ll still buy it or if the store runs out, no way will they switch to another brand. Savvy shoppers aren’t loyal to one brand. If brand A goes up in price, they won’t hesitate to switch to Brand B. The same goes for stores. Don’t be loyal if prices start to go up. Shop elsewhere. Know How…

New Year, New You
Happy 2022 to you. This post is going to be one of those a little of that, and a little of this. I’ve had lots of companies contact me with information about ways to save money and beat inflation. I’m slowly sorting through them and will pick out anything I think is worth passing on to you. I’ve decided not to post our usual good things to buy this month because I’m switching that feature to the resource section and once that’s up and running I’ll give you the link. So, what’s on your to do list this year? One of mine must do’s is plan and plant a vegetable…

Happy Holidays
It’s almost the end of 2021 and I’ll be taking a break but will be back posting January 5th. I’ll be making some changes to BSG in 2022. I’ve realized I have two types of subscribers and followers. Those who like posts about saving money and those who are either running businesses or what to and learn about earning more money. With that in mind, the posts on the site will be more in line with the old Budget Smart Girl posts while my newsletter subscribers will receive more news aimed at making money so if that interests you too, be sure to go to the web site www.budgetsmartgirl.com and…

Possible Budget Smart Girl Marketplace
We’re almost half way through summer. Maybe where you’re at it’s half way through winter. How is your year going so far? Have you met all your goals or are you planning more for the fourth quarter? As you know, I’ve been thinking about new business ideas and what I want to do next. Posting to all my sites is getting tough because it takes so much time and doesn’t really yield the results I want to see. I have a long list of ideas and ways I want to take these sites in new directions. One idea for BSG is to turn it into more of a marketplace to…
