An Entrepreneur’s Journey
This week, I’ve been creating the lessons for the how to promote your book boot camp I’m teaching in March. Today, I worked on a lesson on social media and realized that I hadn’t worked in public relations for twenty years. Twenty years, I thought, had it been that long? It’s what actually gave me the topic idea for this post. It was back in 2000, yes, the beginning of the new century that I decided to venture out on my own. It wasn’t something I’d intended to do. I’d been working for a publishing company as a publicist. During my third year there, I got a sense that things…

Fourth Tuesday-Other Ways to Make Money
January has flown by, well at least I think so. Here we are at the final Tuesday of the month and the last of the previews of what’s going to be happening each week here at BSG. I thought we’d set aside the last Tuesday for other ways you can make money. Not things that net you huge amounts, but maybe rebates and discounts that you get for buying stuff you already do anyway, and use it to add to your pot of gold. There are lots of options out there but one thing that does stop me from signing up for lots of them is, that they seem like…

Monday Motivation-What You Share with the World
What better way to start this week than a quote by the wonderful Marie Forleo. Here she reminds us that we all have a special gift to share with the world. This week think about yours and how you can put it to good use.

The Key to Making Money
If there’s one sure way to making money, it’s to be future thinking. This week, I’ve been following along with e-mails I receive from lots of entrepreneurs whose classes I’ve taken or products I’ve bought. One in particular (I’m hoping he’ll do an interview with BSG), is always upfront about what’s working and what’s not. His latest post was about how much money he made in 2019. He hadn’t done as well in certain areas as he had in 2018. The reason, he pointed out, was because his market is such that it’s low cost to get started in, and just about anyone with a laptop can do it. Great…

Tuesday-Side Gigs
Side gigs, side hustles, those jobs that used to be called moonlighting. We’ve all had them. Lots of people now have not one but two of them. The best thing is lots of them can be done from home, on a laptop, any time of the day. Some people even make their living working side gigs. Part-time or full time, they’re a great way to make some extra money, learning a new skill or just moonlight to boost your savings. With that in mind, each third Tuesday in each month is going to be dedicated to them. I’ll be posting information about some well known ones and some not so…

Monday Motivation-Keep Your Dream
Each of us has a dream that’s unique. What’s yours? Think about it often. Don’t let anyone tell you it can’t be achieved. The one and only thing that can prevent you from living your dream is you.

Business Talk Thursday-Let’s Focus On Why
The difference between success and failure is often due to lack of motivation. When things get hard like when you’re freelancing, running a business, or just simply trying to make some extra money, it’s often lack of knowing your true why that puts an end to your plan. Get a sheet of paper and write down why you want to pursue whatever it is you dream about. Are you saving to buy your first home? A comfortable retirement? An early retirement? The once in a lifetime trip around the world? Living the life you love is different for each of us so simply writing down I want to make more…

Second Tuesday-Teaching and Coaching
It’s the second Tuesday of the month which means you’re going to find a post on another way to make money and this time it’s teaching, coaching, and tutoring. I’ve been tutoring for an online writing school for 12 years, teaching online classes for a decade, and also offer writing classes on a major platform. When the freelance writing market took somewhat of a nosedive during the recession of 2008 and beyond, it was a great way for me to make extra money. We all have skills to share with others which translates into offering those skills for sale. It’s also a great way to make some passive income (more…

Thursday-Business Talk
It’s Thursday and beginning next week, that’s the day we talk business here at Budget Smart Girl. Some weeks the focus will be on promotion and marketing you and your business. Other weeks, growing an e-mail list and getting people to buy whatever it is your selling. We’ll also focus on money, how to run your business the budget smart way, and how to manage it once you’ve made it. We’ll even talk about things like passive income and maybe even a review of products and apps that are supposed to help us run our business and manage our time more effectively. Is there anything you’d like to see discussed…
