    February Challenge-Are You Ready?

It’s almost February and you know what that means at Budget Smart Girl? It’s challenge time. This year I tried to come up with something different. For our 2023 February challenge, it’s don’t buy it unless it’s on sale. Remember that we never buy anything that’s not a necessity. We evaluate a want versus a need. Those elements are still in play but if there is something you need to buy during the month of February then you’re challenge is to try and find it on sale, whether it be at the local store on an online market place. If we can, we’re going to buy everything at a discounted…

Money Mindset Makeover Challenge-Day 12-What’s Your Passion?

What’s your passion? What is it you love doing and could turn into earning extra money each month? Let’s head back to the list you made during the first half of the challenge. Your skills, your expertise, things you love to do. Did you narrow down your list? Do you have your idea ready? If you haven’t, then now is the time to put that on your to do list. Over the weekend, the next two challenges are going to focus on a set of tasks for you to get started on making this actually happen. As we move into the second half this month long challenge, we’ll start to…

Money Mindset Makeover Challenge-Day 6-What’s Your Passion?

The first week of the challenge is almost over. So far we’ve looked at net worth, assets and liabilities, what money comes in and what money goes out each month. Yesterday, we talked about looking at the goods and services on the minus side of the equation but today we’re going to look at the other side of the coin. Ways you can make that amount larger than your outgoing expenditure. Cutting expenses is one way to do it but we all get to the point where we’ve cut back as much as we can so that’s where trying to make more money to increase that plus side comes into…

Money Mindset Makeover Challenge Day 5-Do You Really Need It?

Do you really need it? That’s the question we’re asking ourselves on day 5 of our month long challenge. We’ve looked at net worth, assets and liabilities. We also looked at monthly income and what’s being spent each month. Just doing these things can be either a surprise or a shock. Either way we all have things on our items on things I spend money on list that can be overhauled or better yet, eliminated. Look through the list and be brutally honest with yourself. Are there some things or services that can be cut? Cable TV…how many channels do you actually watch? Gym memberships…when was the last time you…

    Money Makeover Challenge-Day Two

It’s day two and I thought I’d post some questions we need to ask ourselves as we make our way through the rest of the month. Either take pen and paper or use your laptop for your responses. We’ll do a final check in on March 1st so you can gauge our progress. What would you say is your biggest money challenge? It could be you can’t save even a penny, you have lots of credit card debt or you can’t get motivated enough to find ways to save money. If you lost your job or source of income, how long do you think you’d be able to continue paying…
