Money Saving Tip-Let’s Get Baking
The holiday season means one thing, people bake more. Whether it be cookies or breads. Stores know this is prime baking time and hence put things like flour, sugar, butter etc. on sale to pull you into their store. If your budget allows, pick up a few extra items to keep in the freezer or pantry. Even make up some baked things like bread or brownies and store them in the freezer before prices go up again. The final thing you can do to take advantage of sales, is make homemade gifts. A stack of cookies tied with a pretty ribbon. Hot cocoa combined with a mug or a pair…

Money Saving Tip-Black Friday, Make It Work For You
I have to admit I do look forward to Black Friday. During October and early November, I put off buying everyday things because I wait to see what deals I can get on Black Friday. Think about something you’ve been wanting to buy. One item I’m considering is an air fryer. One tip I’ve learned is not to assume just because a store or site has a ‘deal’ that it’s actually a good price. Check what they usually retail for and definitely compare sites. And as an entrepreneur, the thing I like most about Black Friday is lots of things I consider good investments for me go on sale. Things…

Money Saving Tip-The Price Book
Do you know if the price of say a quart of milk has gone up in price? How about how much you paid for gas last month.? Or that hair color three months ago? Sometimes we have a vague idea that something’s gone up in price but to be sure, why not keep a price book. It doesn’t have to be fancy, something from the dollar store will do. Write down all the things you buy and include services and memberships and make a note of the current price. When you go to buy that same thing or service in say a month, check on the price. If it’s going…

Money Saving Tip-Why Buy It When…
Do you have a DIY project, even making something for a special meal and don’t have say, a ladder, a drill or a mixer? Many times we rush out to buy something and after the project is done, it sits on a shelf never to be used again. Before you head to the store or hit the buy button, ask family or friends if they have one they could lend you. If they don’t, then look for rental stores near you. Many have just what you need and you can have use of an item for a whole day for less than you’d pay for it at a store.

Money Saving Tip-Spice It Up
Sometimes cheaper cuts of meat, even budget stretchers like beans can be bland. One thing that can make everything taste like gourmet fare is herbs and spices. Things like garlic and ginger can make a bland soup or stew taste like a professional chef made it. Grow your own or buy one herb or spice each time you go grocery shopping.

Money Saving Tip-Bulk Bins
I don’t know about you, but I love a grocery store that has a great selection of bulk bins. For a little bit of work, (and yes, sometimes it’s fun too), to measure and weigh your own food items, like beans, flour, oats, granola etc. For this little bit of extra work you can save a bundle. It’s also good for the environment too especially if you reuse the bag or container. Talk about a win win situation. This week, check out the bulk bins.

Money Saving Tip-Learn to Sew
Did you know it’s National Sewing Month? I have to admit I have limited sewing skills. I’ve always handed over shortening hemlines and mending zippers to other people. Maybe you have better skills or maybe you make your own clothes. Either way learning basic sewing skills is a money saver. You save money doing your own alterations and then you save money when you learn to repair torn clothing or yes, fixing the broken zipper rather than throwing away things and buying new.
