It’s Not All About Black Friday Deals

Do you have anything in particular on your Black Friday shopping list?

I often pick up some great deals and I have to say I do look forward to it and Cyber Monday. However, there’s something else I look forward to and that’s the week leading up to Turkey Day.

Have you noticed that supermarkets try and entice you in with some great food buys?

I’ve just looked through my local store’s weekly ad and made a list of items I’ll be stocking up on. The great thing is many are pantry items like canned foods and others freeze well.

Here’s a sampling of some of my list-

Canned Green Giant vegetables…just a dollar each and perfect for long term storage…well that’s if they last that long.

Swanson Broths, just $2 and perfect to keep on hand when I don’t have any homemade stock. Think soups, stews and gravies.

Ocean Spray Cranberry Sauce just $2 and great for desserts anytime of the year. And have you seen how much they cost around mid summer?

Campbells Cream of Chicken Soup four for $5. I love having these on hand for casseroles, sauces and pot pies.

Don’t overlook supermarkets as a way to get the best deals around Thanksgiving. If you have some extra in the food budget it’s the perfect time for stocking up and having something on hand should food prices go up in the future…yes, they probably will!
