Second Tuesday-Teaching and Coaching

It’s the second Tuesday of the month which means you’re going to find a post on another way to make money and this time it’s teaching, coaching, and tutoring.

I’ve been tutoring for an online writing school for 12 years, teaching online classes for a decade, and also offer writing classes on a major platform. When the freelance writing market took somewhat of a nosedive during the recession of 2008 and beyond, it was a great way for me to make extra money.

We all have skills to share with others which translates into offering those skills for sale. It’s also a great way to make some passive income (more about that topic in an upcoming Thursday Business Talk).

In the coming months, I’ll be telling you about different ways you can teach, tutor…yes, lots of people do that as a side gig. I’ll share with you my own experiences, failures, successes, where I see the future heading in regards to online learning and even how you can set up your own coaching business if that’s the route you prefer.

The best thing is you don’t have to leave home to teach anymore. In fact, you can do it just about anywhere and your student could be half a world away.

For now, think about some of the skills you have. Maybe you can teach a language, teach people to code, to knit, to cook, to paint…the list is endless. And yes, everyone has a special skill!

Brainstorm ideas for classes, such as knitting for beginners, abstract art for everyone, cooking for busy weeknights.
