What to Buy In August

It’s August so let’s take a look at some items that are going to be on sale-

Back to School

It’s that time of year again when everything connected to learning and returning to the classroom is on sale. And even if you don’t have children but run a business, head to the sales. Now is the best time to pick up supplies for your office. Pens, notebooks…you name it. When I was a full time freelance writer I used to go through notebooks and pens like they were going out of style and learned quickly that the way to save money was to bulk buy each August.

After Summer Sales

Yes, we’re only half way through summer but retail stores work on a different schedule. They have to begin making way for the fall items so summer goodies will be on sale. Think beach items, garden items, clothes etc.

Green Thumbs

And yes, along with the summer items, you can pick up great deals on plants and shrubs. Annuals will be almost free this time of the year because the season is almost done. So if you need something to brighten the yard for the next few months you’ll probably find a deal.

Produce

Pick up the last of the berries of the season. Plums, peaches, nectarines, and melons. For the veggies, look for corn, tomatoes, squash, peppers, and eggplant. One herb that’s in abundance now is basil.
