Happy Friday to you…the last one in March. The sun is shining and outdoor chores and spring cleaning is ahead.   Coupons I know lots of people think old fashioned couponing is a thing of the past but paper ones are still around, plus the ones you print yourself so they need to be organized. Here are some ideas I saw on the P & G Everyday site- https://www.pgeveryday.com/home/money-saving/article/5-ways-to-organize-coupons?   Spring Fashions Spring isn’t even a month old and I’m seeing lots of this season’s fashions on sale. The weeks leading up to Easter is usually a great time to snag a bargain on a dress…

    Friday Round-Up-Easter Treats

Amazon has some great free Kindle books on offer every day. Today I found this one about making your own condiments. Remember they’re not free every day so if you’re interested check out this title today, April 18th. This weekend’s all about Easter. One of my favorite guilty indulgences has always been the Cadbury Crème Eggs. I found this recipe for the homemade kind on Yahoo UK. Looks like a fun project- https://uk.lifestyle.yahoo.com/homemade-cadburys-creme-egg-recipe-sweet-easter-treat-151900845.html And what holiday wouldn’t be complete without a whole bunch of sugary treats. I found this online today. Some of these treats do look like tempting, and according to the title, they’re a breeze to put together-…

    The Friday Round-Up-Goodies for Easter

It’s the last Friday in March and also Easter Weekend. Be sure to check out next week’s sales, including chocolate and candy. I keep both on hand for baking. Also pastel colored items usually go on sale and yes, Easter baskets and other non-perishable items are perfect for storing until next year. Spring isn’t just about cleaning but remodeling and make-overs too. Last weekend while I was washing in the inside of all the kitchen cabinets I decided that once the weather’s warmer and I can open some windows, I’m going to give the cabinet doors a makeover with some paint and new handles. Seems other people must have the…

    Reasons to Love March

Where I live, March usually means the long, cold winter is coming to an end and it’s a reason to celebrate. This year no snow and temperatures in the eighties. However, that’s not the only reason to smile. If you’re a Budget Smart Girl, March is one of the best months for picking up bargains. Here are my favorite picks- It’s Frozen Food Month Just about everything in the freezer section in the supermarket is on sale. Yesterday I bought great buys on frozen veggies and pizza which I always keep on hand for emergency meals. Most big name brands have some type of promotion going on. And if you’re in…

Eggs, a wise choice for the Budget Smart Cook

I don’t have to look at the calendar to know it’s almost Easter. The supermarkets are full of eggs and not just the chocolate kind. Eggs are a bargain any time of the year but as we head into Easter Sunday, they’re one of the best deals out there. Here’s why eggs are always on my list of pantry staples- Nutrition Powerhouses When it comes to perfect nutrition eggs have just about everything. Protein, B vitamins, especially B12 and B2, vitamins A and D, iron, choline and phosphorus, And yes, they’re even low in calories too. But wait a minute, aren’t they bad for me? Not so long ago eggs……

    Easter for the Budget Minded

I can’t believe it’s spring and almost Easter and that means baskets need filling and tables need goodies and decorations. Here are some tips I’ve found work for me and also a couple of unusual Easter goodies. Table Decorations I’m happy to say when I invite people over for a meal they always comment on how well I decorate the table. It’s nice to get compliments and even better when you haven’t paid much for the decorations…sometimes they’ve been free. One year I couldn’t find anything for the center of the table. I was thinking about buying a plant or bunch of daffodils when I decided to clean up the…

The Blog-Hobbies Cost Less at the Dollar Store

Earlier today I was driving by the new dollar store and thought I’d check it out. I’m glad I did. I discovered they had lots of craft items that I can use for one of my new hobbies. My Mom who passed away last year was an avid floral arranger. She did it as hobby but really should have made a career out of it. I found a box of vases, floral foam and some flowers and thought I might as well do something with them. Now I’m hooked because it’s very relaxing and great for a winter day when you can’t play with real flowers. Good thing I wandered…
